doug618 Posted July 7, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2022 Hi All- Received email today that Dec 24th Harmony sailing has an itinerary change from St Thomas to San Juan. We are very disappointed with this. Anyone have any insight on why they changed ports? Thanks -Doug ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING TRAVELS Dear Guest, Due to a berthing conflict in Charlotte Amalie, we’ve replaced our visit to St. Thomas with San Juan, Puerto Rico. gcelkk Posted July 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2022 Sweet, I'd much rather go to San Juan than St. Thomas.
Rare LittleMissMagic Posted July 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2022 It says "due to a berthing conflict," which means that multiple ships were scheduled to visit St. Thomas that day, and the port facilities and local tour operators may not be equipped to handle all of the ships adequately. The Harmony can carry over 6,000 passengers - I think the larger ships are more likely to be turned away when this kind of port conflict happens. Surfguyxxx Posted July 10, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2022 Yeah, ship's too big to be there with other ships in the port. I too like St. Thomas; probably more so than Puerto Rico.
ChattTenn Posted July 10, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2022 Few years back before Crown Bay comes into the picture when they had too many ships in one day some can drop anchor in the bay then tender people to downtown Charlotte Amalie. We like St. Thomas too.
