Esim and caribbean cruise

Recommended Posts

Hi, has anyone used an esim card and found a plan that works on a caribbean cruise, while at sea (not just when in port)?  I think it would be a much more cost effective alternative to buying the onboard wifi on RCCL, which is sooooo expensive now!!

It all depends on usage pattern - you could spend way more than any Voom package within a few minutes of data use via the ship cell tower, while you could save a bunch if you only send a couple of texts.

So, even if I used my phone with my current carrier, while out at sea, I would still incur charges from the ship?  I would incur charges from my carrier and from the ship?

Remember that there are no cell towers at sea, so you would not be using your phone with your current carrier.  So your statement "even if I used my phone with my current carrier, while out at sea" really isn't accurate.  You would be using it with the ship's signal, and their (high) charges.
