activeac1968 Posted July 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2022 Hello - I will be on the Carnival Celebration on Nov 6th, from Southampton to Miami. 1st time in the UK and 1st Transatlantic. What are the differences, if any, for a ship leaving UK/Europe vs. US? I saw a post referencing different alcohol policies in terms of what you can bring on board (I haven't vetted this info) so am curious as to what may be different. I am looking into the UK COVID testing requirements as well to make sure all the bases are covered. I appreciate any insight the seasoned TA travelers can impart. LocoLoco1 Posted July 28, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2022 Currently, prior to getting ABOARD a Holland-America vessel in Italy means we have to be tested at a pharmacy in Rome. Liquor?? I dunno, but easy to look up their rules on their Web-site.

Denise Each cruiseline sets its own’s alcohol policies so you need to see which line works best for you.

hallasm Posted July 30, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2022 I think biggest difference is time change. At an east bound cruise from US to UK you ‘loose’ 5 hours - clock is adjusted an hour every second day at noon. At a west bound cruise you gain 5 hours- clock adjusted during night every second day. However I do prefer sailing east rather than flying.
