ninaks Posted September 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2022 My brother and his family are thinking of joining us on our inside passage cruise next summer on the Koningsdam. None of us have done any ocean cruising before..... are there usually other children on these cruises in the summer? My brother is just wondering if there is enough on the cruise to keep her happy beside the spectacular scenery? Thank you for your help
Rare sunviking90 Posted September 2, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2022 There are usually a lot of children on the summer Alaska cruises. It is definitely a younger demographic with lots of extended family groups, etc. They also run the kids programs almost all day, so she won’t be bored. My son used to love cruising with us.
Rare Kristal Blade Posted September 3, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2022 We have just returned from a 7 day Alaska trip with our grandchildren, 8 and 11. The 8 year old girl made loads of friends in the pool, she was swimming every day and arranging to meet her chums regularly. The 11 year old boy didn’t find a buddy, but he had no trouble entertaining himself even though he rarely went to ClubHal. Thinking back, his main form of entertainment was eating at the Lido! He is a beanpole and definitely managed to get full value every meal. We used the games in the Crow’s Nest on some sea days. It was a lot of fun traveling with kids. 2
Rare irvington Posted September 4, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2022 I took my kids on an Alaska cruise on HAL at that age. The boys loved it and didn't use the Kids Club.
JesseLivermore Posted September 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2022 Our 14 y.o was bored on the Westerdam by day 7, other than the food of course 🙂 Adults loved the shows etc but i do think the newer ship lines are better for kids.
Homosassa Posted September 4, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2022 It depends on the kid and what she considers interesting and fun. We were on a family reunion cruise at the end of June. The two youngest were ten and twelve. They had absolutely no interest in the youth programs on board ship and preferred to hang with the old people.
