Rare NorbertsNiece Posted September 13, 2022 Author #26 Share Posted September 13, 2022 (edited) Took myself for a walk around deck 14 which is open. The Observatory was shut .... indoor forward viewing lounge. Closed for a private event. Grabbed a pic through a closed door then sneaked in through a different set of doors. Rare NorbertsNiece Posted September 13, 2022 Author #33 Share Posted September 13, 2022 (edited) We went to Borough Market for afternoon tea. Every counter was laden with sweet, savoury, hot or cold yummies. Our view. Miserable performance at 'Guess the missing word' in the afternoon trivia. 😭 Now sat in The Observatory with a coffee. Rare NorbertsNiece Posted September 14, 2022 Author #40 Share Posted September 14, 2022 (edited) We're heading to Torshavn in the Faroe Islands to dock tomorrow. We've not booked an excursion. From the app : The Faroe Islands are an archipelago between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, approximately halfway between Norway and Iceland, 200 miles north-northwest of Great Britain. Composed of 18 different islands, the Faroes have truly unspoilt nature be it verdant hills and impressive glacial valleys or soaring cliffs and dramatic seascapes. The name Faroes means "island of currents". Streymoy is the largest and most populated island of the archipelago. Torshavn, located on its southeast coast, is the capital and largest city of the Faroe Islands, and is named after the Nordic god ‘Thor’. Torshavn has an area known as Tinganes, home to what were the first parliament buildings on the islands. The first parliament meeting occurred in 825 A.D. during the Viking Age, making it one of the oldest assemblies in the world. Tinganes boasts pretty wooden houses with green turf roofs, the oldest being more than 500 years old. Just think if you stand on some of the rocks out here on this small peninsular you are standing where the Vikings trod a thousand years ago. paulatsea Posted September 14, 2022 #47 Share Posted September 14, 2022 The shops look quite good ?? Not just the usual jewellery and watches - looks like they have off the peg reading glasses as well - which is great for emergencies. I really like the look of this ship - thanks for updates. Rare NorbertsNiece Posted September 14, 2022 Author #49 Share Posted September 14, 2022 I don't know where to start!! Talk about a standing ovation show! 7 principal singers, 4 dancers. An Enchanted Garden. One of the very best shows on the high seas I've seen, if not THE best. Fabulous costumes; perfect vocals. Exceptional staging and choreography. 'Knights in white satin' in Italian. And finished with a perfect Nessun Dorma. West End quality. Can't wait for tomorrow, Bugsy Malone crossed with Chicago apparently. Magnifique!
