Volcano boarding Cerro Negro in Nicaragua

We’re arriving at Corinto Nicaragua on the HAL Zaandam. (I know it’s not Panama, but it’s a Panama Canal cruise and didn’t know where else to put this). I found where I can book a private tour operator to p/up at the cruise port and drop

off after volcano boarding. But I’m not finding any recs/tips/warnings on the forums here and I am looking to see if anyone has done Volcano Boarding. Tia!

Actually, Cruise Critic has no Port of Call forum for Nicaragua, so this is in fact one good place to ask.   (I just did a search for you here for "volcano" but it turned up no responses.)

 

You might also want to do a search (or ask your question) in the forums for the cruise lines that do Canal full transits, including HAL, Princess, Celebrity, and NCL.  (I've had two port calls in Corinto on NCL.)  I'm sure there are others.

good luck. it is somewhat of a drive to the volcano from port. we did the excursion off the ship it was an ncl cruise. It was a great excursion walking up the volcano. I would not do this on a private tour. I think we were one of the first buses to leave and one of the last to get back. We did have a nice dinner in town before we went back to ship that added time. have fun and i hope you find the answer

Hi, did you take a taxi from cruise port to Masaya Volcano National Park?
if so do you remember how much?  Did you pay in us $?  We are on rcl in October hoping to do this
