Open jaw is when you have a return flight that leaves from a different location where you first arrived or return from the same location you arrived at but to a different end point. For example flight out is YEG --> MCO then return trip is FLL --> YEG. Or YEG --> MCO, MCO --> YYC. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-jaw_ticket You're absolutely correct. The scenario he described is called a "hidden city", "hidden stopover" or "point beyond" ticket, open jaw is as you described.

We have been to Australia before and didn’t want to spend another 8 straight days at sea to get there. Would we be able to disembark at an earlier port? We got a great casino rate and rather see more of Asia then take the rest of the trip south. Thanks in Advance Well , Well , Well ... Carnival Family. What happened ? Did you get permission to disembark ?

We decided not to take this cruise and took advantage of doing a back to back to back cruise in Europe on the Pride instead. From another post it seems like the 30 day transpacific cruise was in for a rocky (literally) start and missed ports in Alaska. 10 straight days at sea before they reached Japan. Seems like it was a good idea to skip the cruise
