regan3 Posted December 21, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2022 Is there any disadvantage of switching a booking made online to a travel agent? Will we still be able to make dining reservations/shore excursions online without going through the TA? What is the process to switch?
azalice Posted December 21, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2022 we just booked a short Alaska cruise two weeks ago for august 2023;we did it while our TA was out of town and so booked directly with Holland. Holland then told us that our TA would get it transferred when he can. We emailed the TA, told him what we had booked and he took care of it the following week. And, while doing it, he got us some HAL OBC that we did not have from HAL before. We can still make our own dining reservations and our shore excursions ourselves. We have used a TA for years because he gets us more OBC and he sometimes gets us a group fare that gives us a better deal.
regan3 Posted December 22, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted December 22, 2022 Does the TA track the price and give you the lower fare (or OBC)?
oakridger Posted December 22, 2022 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2022 Some TAs will check for price drops, and some don't. Some give OBC and some don't. You should discuss this with a prospective TA before you book with them. My TA does both and that's why I keep booking with her! Laws/regulations for TAs and fares are different depending on what country you are in. Where do you live @regan3? ~Nancy
