Port or Starboard

Planning to sail on NIeuw Statendam leaving from Rome and stopping on Greek Islands and Cairo and Istanbul and cruising the Dardanelles. Cruise ends in Athens.  Would it be best to book a port or a starboard room? Or does it not matter which side of ship the room is on? Any feedback would be appreciated.
