Woody14 Posted February 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2023 Has anyone used Butts Up (cave-tubing.com) for tours in Belize? looking at doing the cave tube and zip line combo
_RaveN_ Posted February 25, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2023 We did it many years ago and it was fantastic. We got to tube further down the river than the ship tours which meant we didn't have to hike back. Transportation was good and everything was as expected. Had a great time.
Cruisemungus Posted August 30, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2023 (edited) Wife and I did the cave tubing with Butt's Up but not the zip line. Big John, the tour guide and another younger guy, met us at the cruise port exit and escorted us to a waiting bus. The bus ride through the country took about 45 minutes. There was about a 30 minute hike to get to the put in point where we had to cross a stream/streams twice so hard sneakers, crocks, or water shoes with a harder sole are best (not flip flops or water socks/shoes). We didn't have to carry our tubes on the hike, which was nice. They were waiting for us at the river, along with life vests (not that you really need them). They provided a place to change with rest rooms and lunch afterwards. They took great care of us and provided a fun and wonderful experience. They watch the time and make sure you get back on time to catch a tender. We would recommend them. DavidsNana Posted August 31, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2023 @CruisemungusThanks for your review. When we were in Belize in April, we took the cave tubing excursion through the ship. We also enjoyed it. However, we had to carry our own tubes down to the river, I like that you didn't have to do that. Also, I totally agree with you about the footwear you suggested. I wore water shoes and walking over all those rocks in and out of the water was painful. In fact, I ended up with bruises on the bottom of my feet. I would do it again but will wear shoes with a better sole like you suggested.

Few questions. How long did the entire tour last? Where did you put your belongings while you were on the tour? Thanks
Cruisemungus Posted September 1, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 1, 2023 I don't remember exactly how long the tour was but I do remember they were very conscious of the time and made sure they got us back on time. With that said, it was probably 4-5 hours. We put our belongs on the bus they transported us on. We felt our things were safe and secure. They depend on good reviews to keep their business running so they ensure you are well taken care of. Hope you have a great time!
tetleytea Posted January 9 #7 Share Posted January 9 (edited) We used Butts Up last week on our cave tubing + ziplining tour, and only had one issue: we also booked ATV, and they didn't let us do it. They didn't make us pay for ATV. I think we would have been squeezed for port time if we had done it, anyway. Cave tubing + zipline alone took up about 75% of the time in port we had. One thing they didn't tell us was, the hike was a little more than just a hike. We had to ford 3 rivers, and they were knee-deep and had a strong current. For me, it only added to the adventure (this is, after all, an adventure tour), but little kids might be afraid and/or need a little extra help. One of the 3 crossings, we had to use a rope to get across, but the water's depth and current will vary depending on the weather. They also served us each a fairly large tamale for lunch. We didn't know about that, either. You have to pay for drinks. All told, Butts up was fine. Cave tubing was great. Ziplining was not the hardest I've ever done. Rare tofubeast Posted January 10 #8 Share Posted January 10 We used Butts Up last week when in Belize that we had booked in advance online. They met us just outside the port. There was a little hangup with the van/bus, but they put us with another family and we ended up having a very small tour group. That was awesome for us. Daton, our guide, gave us a lot of information about Belize and was an excellent guide when it came to being at the site. Heads up, it takes about an hour to get to the site. We passed larger groups when hiking to the cave, and it was nice to feel small AND not have to lug the tubes. We also lucked out with cooler weather. I think doing this tour during the height of the heat and humidity in Belize would be pretty intense. Be sure to wear crocs or water shoes that have a very solid flooring. Bring you bug screen with you. The cave was insanely amazing and is a must-see experience. We were just in awe the entire time. For my Disney Parks loving friends, it was like being on Big Thunder, meets Pirates, meets Jugle Cruise, meets Kali River Rapids. We saw parrots, too. BOOK THIS!!!
