Can't imagine X pulling one of its ships out of "routine" service for sixteen weeks to serve as a floating campus for the program. With an already reduced fleet that leaves some gaps in X's itinerary offerings about which many are complaining, I wonder if X will be using a ship other than one of its own.

From the web site:

Campus Profile

Note: Backed by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., we are currently making a final decision on which ship will become The Scholar Ship campus. Stay tuned!

As for the passenger "liner" remark, in this day and age where nautical terminology is often confused or just falls by the wayside, it could mean anything.

Doesn't RCCL also have controlling interests in Island Village, too? So it could be one of their ships that gets used, too.

Also, this "Scholar Ship" thing has been around for a while, even though the web site claims that the "inaugural" voyage will be in January of 2007. I recall about 5 years ago reading about another one of these programs, called "Semester at Sea." They talked about how it was basically a 16-week-long party-at-sea-for-college-credit.

The link answered the question; apparently it isn't going to be an X ship but rather a vessel "previously operated as a luxury ocean-going passenger liner."

My point was they could pull the Zenith as they did the Horizon and then it would fit the term "previously operated as a luxury ocean-going passenger liner." Under those circumstances it certainly could be a Celebrity ship.
