Blackjack happy hour - $6 minimum

so there was a "happy hour" twice on Oasis from 12-6pm on 2 port days. It was a $6 minimum but came with a catch.  To play that bet, you had to bet $5 on the hand, and a mandatory $1 on the side bet of getting a 20 on your first 2 cards.  Otherwise you could bet the standard $10 minimum with no side bet.

Not real crazy about this.  I know you don't see $6 minimums often, but the mandatory side bet seems like a money maker for the house.  I don't have the time or knowledge to run the numbers, but I would be interested to see if you are better off just playing the $10 bet in the long run.  Most likely this is the case.

The house never changes the rules unless they think it is to their advantage (making money). 🤔

Good marketing ploy on the first read. 😁

Then again, let's make a bet on who is making more money out of the change, RCI or the gambling passenger?  🤣

I give 100 to 1 odds in the house's favor. 🤯

Believe house edge is about 18% on the $1 side bet. ( six decks ) And if its a 6/5 Blackjack table instead of 3/2 I'd pass right by the table with my $10. If you just have to play Id skip the side bet deal.

My 100 to 1 odds would have me losing money with your analysis. 🤨

More like a 5 to1 odds. Good thing I do not gamble! 🤣

I will leave it to the pros. My pockets get cleaned at the casinos. 😉

If the internets are correct, your odds of getting 20 is ~10.5%. So, every 9 or 10 hands.

I guess it depends on a couple things.

What's the side bet pay? Is it just 2:1? If so you figure you are losing $8 every 10 hands.

The second is are you winning or not? lol If you are winning, play the $10 minimum. If not, play the $5 and and the side bet.

But either way, the side bet is a donation. Cost of saving on your minimum bet.

I can't remember specifically, but the odds varied based on how you got to 20.  I think a pair of kings with the same suit paid like 8:1 whereas two 10's were maybe 2:1.
