How Strict is Checkin Time?

Hi all,

 

We booked a cruise in the fall from Barcelona on Enchantment of the Seas that is supposed to depart at 5pm. We would like to spend as much time as possible in Barcelona the day of the departure. What is the best course of action, should we attempt to get an early checkin, get on the boat as soon as possible, and leave afterwards? Or would it be better to get a late checkin slot? Ideally would be to be able to drop just the luggage at the terminal and come back to finish the checkin and board as late as possible… not sure if that works though. What happens if we get an early checkin slot and not show up until a couple of hours before departure at the terminal? How late can we be after the selected checkin time?

If you are checked in early you don‘t need to go on board, you can just leave and come back later by 3pm. Or you simply check in close to 3pm and go straight on board.

What happens if we select an early boarding time during checkin in the app and don't show up at the terminal until a couple of hours before departure? Would that cause issues? Trying to keep our options open if we change our minds and would want to board early...

No, that late there should be virtually no one in line, though you may not want to cut it that close - check in usually closes at 90 min out.
