We are on RC Explorer of the Seas to these ports in September. My 86 yo dad is going along. Greece has always been on his bucket list. He gets around good but has arthritis and some days are tough to walk long distances. Anyone done this itinerary that can suggest excursions to see the sights and experience Greece but has an option to just sit in a cafe if he’s having a bad day and can’t walk for miles? Anything that includes local cuisine/ wine/ or spirits would be a plus.

Corfu, Athens, Mykonos, Argostoli, Montenegro

I would watch the RCI forum for trip reports as they come in over the summer. They will provide a wealth of first hand information. Perhaps get your father a copy of Rick Steves 'Med Cruise Ports' so he can learn about the destinations and determine what he wants to see and do.

I travel DIY mostly so have no excursions to recommend.  We took a similar itinerary llate ast Sept ... stormy almost every day and we missed Kotor altogether, but this is what we did or planned to do.

CORFU ....HoHo Bus to see the Vlacherna monastery on the little island.  Then wander around old town and enjoy a cafe on the Liston.

ATHENS .... walked up to the Acropolis, then watched the Changing of the Guard and wandered around the Plaka.  My mother was 82 at the time of that cruise and managed the climb

MYKONOS .... took the free shuttle into town. Walked to Old Venice, then the Windmills whch are a block or 2 further, then just enjoyed the ambiance of the lovely town and all the flowers and homes.

MONTENEGRO .... speed boat to Lady of the Rock,  15E with www.kotorboat-tours.com

Wander around the town.

( Argostoli was originally on the itinerary but was dropped several months prior. It looked like a neat old fishing village and a big draw is watching for the sea turtles around the docks.)

In Kotor, Montenegro the old city is just across the street from the dock where the tenders go to. The old city is flat and easy to walk around and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to sit down and have a drink or a meal. The old city is lovely but you could go to Lady of the Rocks Church Island and Perast (you do sail past the islands and Perast on the way to and from Kotor). Don't miss the beautiful sail in and out - one of the best in Europe.

Mykonos is very easy and flat to walk around and very pretty and is great to just wander and visit the windmills. Lots of cafes and restaurants to sit for a while with a drink or meal.

Corfu you will probably have a shuttle to get to the old city and once there it is fairly flat and easy to walk around. The old city is great to walk around, shop, visit churches and museums and the old fort is also interesting to visit. Once again lots of cafes and restaurants.

Athens once you get there from the dock has so much to see. The Acropolis and Parthenon is the big attraction and there are a lot of other ruins such as the Forum and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. The Changing of the Guard and the old Olympic Arena are also interesting. The Plaka area at the base of the Acropolis has lots of cafes and restaurants.

I haven't been to Argostoli.

These are all things you can DIY but of course there will be lots of excursions you can do, some of which will be easy and relaxed.

Hope you have a wonderful cruise 🛳️

Corfu is a popular destination for taxi tours around the more scenic parts of the island.

Having said that, it is advisable to pre-book these before sailing as you can then discuss needs, length of time, cost, and have an english speaking driver/guide.

eE found several online by googling "corfu taxi tours" or something similar, and ended up with either 3 or 4 taxi tours shared with others on our Roll Call.  Have you checked your RC to see if anyone has already arranged one and is looking for others to share?  Alternatively you could arrange one and look for sharers on your Roll Call.

As mentioned above, if by "Montenegro" you mean Kotor, entrance to the old town is within a few metres of docking or the tender drop off and there are many restaurants, cafes and bars to enjoy a rest. And yes, the old town is flat and a joy to explore.

Kotor, this spring - took a private taxi tour to Perast, and the driver took us to a free boat ride to the Lady of the Rocks and then drove us up into the hills for a view. We arranged with him how long we wanted to stay each place - he was part of a company selling taxi tours at the dock.  Very talkative and friendly, taught us lots.  Then we walked around inside the walled town for an hour or so, using an online written walking tour I found

Argostoli, this spring -walked around, then took a 5eu trolley tour around the town.

Mykonos, a few years ago, walked in the town, then took a city bus to a beach area, rented a couple chairs and umbrella, took the city bus back.

Athens, a few years ago - took a taxi tour, arranged destinations and times with driver.  Driver helpful, talkative, and friendly.  Self toured the Acropolis and Parthenon with Rick Steves audio guides we put on our phones.  Went to lunch at a Greek restaurant and then went to some other sights and views.
