Tipping tour guides in Greece, Turkey and Israel

Recommended Posts

Should we exchange dollars to euros and/or shekels or do tour guides catering to Americans accept dollars for tips.  I understand 5-15% of the price of the tour (per person) is the norm (the higher end for exceptional service).  Any comments on that?

I cannot help you with Israel, but Greece definitely tip with Euros and Turkey although they do have a different currency, as a general rule, the guides will prefer Euros. Dollars are not helpful to them.

I always tell the tour guide before tipping" Im sorry, I only have US Dollars".  I have never had anyone ever say NO.  FYI... don't forget to tip the bus driver a small amount as well.  They are just as important as the tour guide.
