St.Petersburg Lunch at Grand Choral Synagogue

As part of our St. Petersburg experience, we plan on visiting tne Grand Choral Synagogue for a short tour and, perhaps, lunch. Has anyone had lunch at "L'Chaim?" Is this restaurant part of the synagogue; and, generally serves the pensioner population? What did you think of the food?

We saw the restaurant, but it wasn't open, and our guide said that is often the case. But that was in 2003, and maybe things have changed.
