Galaxy drydock this fall?

When we booked the Galaxy for February 12, 2007 while on board the Millennium last fall, the on-board sales rep told us that the Galaxy would be refurbished this fall. Has anyone hear about whether or not this refurbishment is actually going to happen? I don't see any gaps on the Galaxy's schedule yet.

A major refurbishment like the one the Century will be receiving would require the cancellation of several cruises.

Does anyone have any information about whether or not a drydock is scheduled for Galaxy?

Like you, Brenda, I was given the same information.

 

Let's hope someone has definite dates to share. IMHO this ship is long overdue for a major refurbishment.

It would be pretty hard for X to do considering there are a number of almost sold out cruises. (We are on one on Galaxy on 10/16.) With lots of people already holding air fare I think X would probably face class action suits if they took Galaxy off line now. That kind of thing is planned years in advance except in places where they can sub another ship ala Millenium in the Caribbean with Infinity this spring so Infinity could dry dock to fix pods AGAIN!

GAlaxy has cruises booked through April 2007, so unless there is a mechanical problem I doubt it.

And just as a warning, in the past the staff on board has not been too accurate in their predictions of what is going to happen to the ships. Take everything with a grain of salt until Celebrity makes an announcement.

We were able to do a bridge tour this last week and the Senior Navigation officer giving the tour said not until next year.:)

We've been on Galaxy three or four times since 2004. Each time, we've been told that the refurbishment would be done "in the spring," or "in the fall" depending upon the time we were aboard the ship. Am beginning to NOT believe them.

 

The ship is wonderful, do wish they'd give her the updating she deserves.
