THRU LINCOLN TUNNEL TO PIER?

Can anyone help with this? We'll be coming through the Lincoln Tunnel from NJ. I know that we should be dropped off across the street from the pier so we don't get into the bumper to bumper traffic on the pier side, but when we get out of the tunnel, which way should we go to get to the downtown side so we can come up and soninlaw can drop us off across the street? Does anyone have directions: From the tunnel and then Back to the Tunnel again after he has dropped us off??? Any suggestions from pro NY cruisers out there?? We only sailed out of NYC one time and that was YEARS ago!. Thanks, Mary

Here are directions to the Port of New york that I give to my clients:

Exit 16E is the Lincoln Tunnel. Upon exiting the Tunnel, follow signs to 10th Avenue/ Uptown. Take 10th Avenue to West 55th Street. Turn left onto West 55th Street. Stay on West 55th Street to 12th Avenue. Proceed through the gate marked Passenger Ship Terminal, if you want to be dropped off by the ship. Good Luck!

If you want to be dropped off across the street at the pier, then 55th street is too far north. When you come out of the tunnel, follow the signs for uptown, then follow the signs or go west to 12th street. Make a right on 12 street and you should be around 12th & 42nd street, then go about 10 blocks and you will see the Intrepid Air Museum then the pier docks for the ships. If you get dropped off by 55th st. you may have to walk down 3 or 4 blockswith your luggage based on where your ship is. To go back just tell your son in law to make the next right off of 12th and then make a right on 11th and follow the signs for the Lincoln Tunnel. Hope this helps.

The tunnel is below the pier, so just head west, and then north on the West Side highway. You can't miss it.

Best way that I have found is this:

coming out of the tunnel keep to your left.Follow signs for 42nd street. You can ONLY go left or right onto 42nd.Turn left.Make the first right onto 10th and go down to 49th.Turn left onto 49th and get out at 49th and 11th and walk. This way you only walk 1 block up to 12th and it brings you out at about berth 90 Then the driver can turn left onto 11th and follow signs back to the tunnel.

Same thing coming back.Driver could wait for you at 11th and 49th st.Unless its raining then the whole thing is shot icon_smile.gif

Good Luck
