rental car near port of miami

I would like to rent a car after our cruise to drive to Tampa.  Is there any place near the port or should I just go to the Miami airport?

Best idea is to either cab, Uber or Lyft over to Miami International Airport Rental Car Center from the Port Of Miami. The facility has every name brand Car Rental company under one roof. Open twenty four hours a day. Only a fifteen minute cab ride from the Port of Miami. In most instances plenty of vehicles available and plenty of staff on site. So much better than using the downtown Miami locations that are closer to the Port of Miami.

Avis has a location near the port on 2nd Street, but as mentioned above post cruise it is often overwhelmed with customers, leading to long waits for cars even with a guaranteed reservation.
