Vol-au-Vent. This was better than I expected, but maybe a little salty (that has been the case for several items this cruise).

I opted for the Caesar tonight and Mark had the French Onion Soup (missed that photo).

Mark opted for Beef Wellington. He said mine is better. (And it is, but isn’t he a good guy for saying so!)

Edgar brought spaghetti carbonara as well. Mark said it was a little undercooked by TV had good flavor.

I ordered the Rack of Lamb and thought it was pretty great.

Dessert. 😁

IMG_2674.thumb.jpeg.aa7edd104a3123ebea32c01c0a7b4778.jpeg

And after-dinner drinks.

IMG_2675.thumb.jpeg.86942a49525f7caf8d4fff1eeed46299.jpeg

Mark got the sugar-free coconut cake and liked it.

IMG_2676.thumb.jpeg.738cd43c9168d0b0fd856100907487a0.jpeg

I ordered the chocoholic cheesecake and was confused. No self-respecting chocolate lover would call this piece of plain cheesecake with chocolate sauce “chocoholic.”  That being said, it was still pretty good.

Over salting was also what we have noticed on Royal Princess. Many menu items are identical too. I noticed several people are praising the souffles, but for some reason it did not click with me on Royal, I still want to give it another shot next cruise. Normally, I am fan of tiramisu and creme brulee 😄

Now you approach the end of your trip.  Always a little bittersweet.  But hey!  Now you get to plan for the next one!  😀

And thanks again for doing this great thread.  It really heled us in planning for out 2025 Circle Caribbean.

A quiet morning around the ship, with generally smooth seas.

For those who are about to take the next cruise: I have seen very little evidence of Covid…. haven’t seen a single little table out in the hallways (in the past, this indicated someone is in quarantine) and no excessive coughing, etc.

There are still a few people wearing masks, but not many. People are washing their hands at the new sinks outside the buffet.
So all good news, however others on this cruise may wish to add their own observations…

i‘m one of those who prefers wearing a K95 mask in crowded space like the elevator, waiting for the restaurants and theaters for example.

I didn’t noticed any outside tables infront of cabins aswell, but a lot more of people are coughing compared to the start of the cruise.

as we departed yesterday a women next to me told me that she had been sick the last couple of days and finally felt well enough to leave the cabin, and did hinted that it could have been more then a cold ..still was out and about coughing without a mask

I also catched a cold (A/C to blame for that) but was testing daily in the morning with at home tests for Covid & flue before heading out and requested a private table to not spread my gems

I was surprised how not busy the sundeck was compared to our last sea day, easy to get sunchairs even at close to 11 am (including on in the shade)

also I felt sorry for the Captain who had to miss the presentation because of his duties as master of the ship and now they have re-scheduled another one this afternoon

Last full day afloat…..we are now busy packing and preparing our tip envelopes for our excellent steward and Botticelli servers…

Our final lunch in DaVinci offered quite a few choices….

We opted for the calamari, the Thai shrimp spring roll and the rice paper summer roll.

Our lovely Thai server spent some time explaining his own homemade peanut satay recipe. I wish he had been cooking today, as our sauce was bland and and grainy…

MDR Dinner (Day 13 - Final Formal Night)

Sorry this post is a little late. But this is the dinner info from last night. Tonight will be our final MDR dinner, so I wanted to get this posted before tonight!

I think this is the first time I took a picture, but they bring a basket of rolls to the table each night.

IMG_2684.thumb.jpeg.4dcafc71ea8d070dd15f137ebf95d7dd.jpeg

Mark and I both tried the Crab & Shrimp Bisque. Again, this was a bit salty.

Than the Wedge Salad. This was somewhat disappointing. I love the blue cheese and red onion, but there wasn’t really a “wedge” of salad so it was very overdressed. Lol, it’s rare for me to say it needs more lettuce, but here we are.

Dessert

Mark ordered the cheesecake and it was good.

I got the pistachio dome and, while I thought it tasted good, I didn’t taste any pistachio at all. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t pistachio. It was mostly just sweet.

I’m about 75% packed I guess. I always feel way less organized getting all the stuff back INTO the suitcase.

Today has had beautifully mild temperatures and nice breezes across the deck as we head back to Fort Lauderdale.

Adding some of the starters from yesterday - and my fave Key Lime dessert from the online ordering menu (aswell iced coffee - my standard order was a double espresso over ice with almond milk, but they also have the iced flat white version with extra shot and nutmeg & cinnamon topping)

it’s close to been to cold up in the shade as there is a very strong breeze going on, but much nicer then too hot

Any idea if or how often Princess updates their desert menu? 95% looks the same as we've had on Royal few month ago on Alaska sailing. I think I've tried most of them...Those domes may have different names and colors but taste the same. Cheesecakes, creme brulee and tiramisu are probably the most classics and would not change, but seriously, I wish these menus had more varieties from ship to ship...

One negative for those who cruise the same lines over and over again is that the menus (all courses) remain essentially the same...sometimes for several years.  Like most cruise lines, Princess works from a library of home office developed menu items, does their purchasing based on those items, and does not encourage the onboard chefs to deviate.   In theory, the onion soup you get on the Ruby will be the same on the Enchanted...a year later.

We are "equal opportunity cruisers" and cruise on many different lines.   For us this means we get completely different menus, different entertainment, etc.  For what its worth, there are plenty of folks who seem to prefer the sameness they find on one particular cruise line.  You will find cruisers who like the dessert "crisps" on HAL, souffles on Princess, etc.  In some ways it's like the person who goes to McDonalds every few days and orders the same meal.

Although we are long time fans of Princess, I would imagine that when we board the Sky in a few weeks we will find some of the same Production Shows and menus we had on the Enchanted two years ago!  I will admit that we do not want Princess to ever change their pizza :).
