Just curious about casinos openings onboard

Recommended Posts

Going to sail to Alaska in April and just curious if they open casinos on Alaska cruises. I was under the assumption you had to be a certain distance away from land for them to open.

Yes, the casinos are open on the Alaska cruises while the ship is moving from port to port. I believe they will be closed if you are in a national park (Glacier Bay for instance) and may also be closed near Canada.  On a Seattle to Seattle RT it seems like they closed in the afternoon prior to arriving in Victoria later that day, did not open again.

The casino is open every night shortly after leaving port.

On a R/T Seattle, the casino opens late leaving Seattle until you clear Washington state waters.

It closes early on the last day as you enter Washington state waters and does not reopen after leaving Victoria.

On Glacier Bay day, the casino opens at 3:00 pm.
