Beach day

Please can anyone recommend a beach not too far from the cruise port terminal. Happy for a 10 min taxi ride or similar. Have done a tour of Bonaire previously so now just looking for a nice beach with loungers and a bar please.

If you want a beach you don’t have to pay for, Te Amo beach (also called airport beach) is a nice sand beach with easy entry right across from the airport entrance.   There is a bathroom and generally a food truck with food and drinks.   If you want a resort with facilities, Chogogo Beach resort has ocean access, a pool, a lazy river, full bar and restaurant and shaded lounge chairs. They sell day passes for $25 with $10 of it being a food or beverage credit.  However, they frequently sell out of their limited passes, so make sure to go before 10 am to get a pass.  Next door is Eden Beach, which also sells day passes, has ocean access, pool, restaurant and bar.  There are others on the other side of the island at Lac Bay but it would be a long cab ride.

I will be in Bonaire from 6am to 2pm,

I will either do Klein beach ou Chogogo day pass.

In either case no reservation are needed, so I guess I will go with the flow that day...

Klein looks amazing but the 90 minutes ( round trip ) of transportation is not the best with a short, early, day in port.

Chogogo is about 15 minutes( round trip ) by taxi from the port.

Hi,

On a cruise ship day, the ferries to the small island of Klein Bonaire will be booked for shore excursions, so if you want to go there, you will need a reservation.  The ferries usually come directly to your ship and drop you back off there.  It’s not a 90 minute round trip unless they are planning a slow boarding time, the ferry to Klein takes a little less than a half hour.

If you want to go to chogogo, get there as soon as you can, they have a limited number of day passes and they often sell out.  If you arrive and they are sold out, you can walk next door to Eden Beach Resort and buy a day pass there.

Hope you enjoy your trip!
all the best,

Kate

At Chogogo last week..👍👍. Would definitely return and also consider a land stay. The resort is great..super friendly staff, great pool, lazy river, bar, restaurant, facilities, plenty of chairs, shade, very peaceful.  Just know the beaches are rocky, the water crystal clear.  Take your own beach towels or from the ship. You might also take a hand towel from ship to wipe the loungers...birds hangout and leave behind evidence 😃.    Best $25 can spend.     Recently planted more palms, this place is nice and 3-5 years will be exciting.  Enjoy!

What time did you arrive at the resort?  We are concerned about them selling out of day passes.  We are the only ship in port that day so hoping as long as we can be quick off the boat we should be ok.  Do you know if they sold out on the day of your visit?

Did you snorkel?  Hoping there is good snorkeling near by!

We were only ship as well, apprx 3200 pax. I think they can only accommodate 1 per day. We arrived in port 8a,  took our time and taxi to resort, $15, about 12-14 minute ride. Arrived 944a, two adults, no problem.  Though sign was already posted that they were sold out of kid's passes for the day.   I think they consider and count the kids staying on property aa well and limit the total #.  Next visit, we would plan to arrive sooner if possible, their office opens 8a local time.

We did not snorkel though several were out doing so. I believe you'll need your own equipment but can contact office prior, they were very responsive leading up to our visit.  They do have an onsight dive shop there but I know nothing about it.

The resort is not fancy but it is nice, quiet, relaxing and has all that we needed.  $25 pass gets you in and includes $10 bar/restaurant credit..which was one drink each and tasty at that. Hope this helps, enjoy!
