We are traveling with 2 other couples. Two of us want to rent clam shells, one does not. Are any of the clam shells near regular chairs? We are thinking we might need to just rent umbrellas instead.

Yep. Plenty of chairs near clamshells. You can drag a chair right up next to clamshell as far as I’ve seen.
