Looking at a Mediterranean cruise, is May a good month to go?

Yes, assuming you mean not too hot, and/or less crowded.

 

Some reading around the board would reveal many discussions on the "best" time to go. June to the end of August can be hot and humid. April, May, September and October are nicer and less crowded.
