RIP1 Posted March 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2006 I appreciate any responses, and I am sure it has been asked and answered before. In the evening on non-formal nights, what do both the men and women wear? thanks
chessbriar Posted March 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2006 They have casual, informal and formal nights. Casual is docker type pants and either a pullover or button up shire Informal is Slacks and sport coat Formal is Tux or dark suit. These are for men. Women are to dress to compliment the men
wolfganghowell Posted March 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2006 I'll add to what Rick said. Casual for women would be pants or casual skirt or sundress type of thing. Informal would be more of a church/party/nice restaurant type of skirt/dress/pants. Formal is cocktail dresses - anything from short to long. If you plan on dining in the Olympic, they do request a tie and jacket even if it is a casual night on the ship. You don't see too many jeans on Celebrity even on casual nights. bmik2729 Posted April 2, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2006 we are cruising on the Millie Venice - Barcelona in July. I too would like to nail down the difference between Informal and Casual for men. For Informal....is a suitcoat and tie okay, would a suitcoat with a polo shirt be acceptable?...or is a suit more appropriate? Would a suitcoat with either a mock turtle neck, or crew neck shirt be acceptable? Casual nights, casual, Docker type slacks and a polo shirt? Is a suitcoat necessary? Thanks... SANDY BEACH Posted April 2, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2006 My DH usually wears a sports coat and a mock turtleneck on informal night. Dockers and polo shirt or buttonup on casual and dark suit, tie on formal. He always seems to fit right in.

Would a suitcoat with either a mock turtle neck, or crew neck shirt be acceptable? -- All of the above would be fine. ( Many people consider "informal" to mean "semi-formal". I personally like a tie, so I wear one with either a suit or sport coat.) Casual nights, casual, Docker type slacks and a polo shirt? -- These would be OK. (I still wear a sport coat, without the tie.) Is a suitcoat necessary? -- No. -- Hope this helps.
