Question Re: Refund Of Excess Taxes Charged-help!

We're booked on a June 2006 sailing on the Crown Princess. Is anyone willing to tell me exactly what their port tax and government taxes are PER PERSON. Ours are $325.78 per person - much higher that some have suggested it should be. TA says we should have a credit on our credit card, but nothing yet and I'd like to know what amount to expect. Thanks so much!

Depends on where the ship is docking what the fees are .

You can check the correct amount by going to the Princess site and going through the motions of booking it will give you the fees charged for that cruise.

Frankly there is some confusion on what "port taxes and fees" are. What is used to be called port taxes is now noncommissionable fees and includes expendables like fuel etc so that commission doesn't have to be paid on these and includes port charges as well. Some TA's show this seperately and some only show the federal taxes. So it could be that this is the amount charged. If you TA said it was an overcharge that would be credited you should check with them. So a NCF charge of 300 plus dollars is not thar unusual.

According to the invoice for our next trip, the "Misc Fees" and "Port Charges" amount to 25% of the total "Cruise Line Price", exclusive of insurance. This is for a two week Caribbean cruise with nine ports. As a previous post mentions, the specific and number of ports are relevant to the fees.

Your mileage may vary.
