CaptainCrunch Posted May 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 16, 2006 I'm sure I'm not the only person cruising RC that won't touch macrobrews (Bud, Coors, Miller, etc). Is there any way to find out what brews will be on a certain ship? I was hoping maybe the English-themed pub may have some good brews (at the VERY LEAST some Guinness). Also - I know the rules for smoking are kinda strict ... any idea what (if any) bars/lounges allow for smoking (although there's probably no distinction on board -pipe, not cigarettes)

FitzLA Posted May 16, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2006 I too hope they have some nice imported beers. It wouldn't be an English Pub if they didn't. Here's to hoping. The American beers are gross to me. I won't touch them either. From what I understand, pipes and cigars are only suppose to be smoked in the cigar lounge. But the pub and other bars allow cigarettes. Someone else might be able to answer for sure.
cb at sea Posted May 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2006 Schooner bar allows smoking--I know that only the cigar bar allows cigars--don't know about pipes! I'm pretty sure pipes are allowed wherever cigarettes are. Also, there's a bar in the Casino that is smoker-friendly!
bobbie0253 Posted May 16, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 16, 2006 What ship are you on? I have a lot of the bar menus. Guinness has been on every ship I have sailed on....so far ;)

KarinaGW Posted May 16, 2006 #7 Share Posted May 16, 2006 Voyager had Grolsch when I was on it. I was introduced to it by one of the ship's engineers.
bobbie0253 Posted May 16, 2006 #8 Share Posted May 16, 2006 Well....that figures....the only Voyager class I haven't done yet :( here are menus from her sisters...... pretty much the same on every ship. FitzLA Posted May 16, 2006 #9 Share Posted May 16, 2006 Thanks for the menus. The prices seem to be pretty cheap too. Glad to hear it!:D
CaptainCrunch Posted May 16, 2006 Author #10 Share Posted May 16, 2006 the prices aren't great ... but they are what I'd expect to pay on a cruise ship - heck - i've paid more for a beer at a club. guess i'll be set for many a black-n-tan! Prices are cheap compared to what I get here is Los Angeles, or any land based vacation I have ever been on. So it's good to me! I'll join ya in that black & tan!!! Cheers!!! I am like you in I won't touch an American macrobrew. You should have no trouble finding a few different brews that you will enjoy. Now, I'll return to my Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat! rokcop Posted May 17, 2006 #16 Share Posted May 17, 2006 There is smoking allowed in english pubs on board Voyager class ships. Guiness is readily available, and vdv115 I have seen and enjoyed boddingtons there as well. Enjoy!
jobrien Posted May 17, 2006 #17 Share Posted May 17, 2006 Guiness is readily available ... Is the Guinness you referring to draft?
LadyGodiva Posted May 17, 2006 #18 Share Posted May 17, 2006 I would LOVE it if they had Sam Adams lager on the ships, especially the Canada/New England sailings out of Boston! I usually drink Heineken onboard when I want a beer, although I always keep Sam Adams at home.
Home.Brew Posted May 17, 2006 #19 Share Posted May 17, 2006 When I was on Adventure, the drink waiter in the dining room was kind enough to go to the English pub and get me a Boddington's every night. It wasn't available in the regular place he acquired the drinks. Great service.
AdamKnows Posted May 17, 2006 #20 Share Posted May 17, 2006 RCCL has Guiness on all of their ships. The Guiness they have is an international blend that is even stouter than the stuff that we get here in the US. I love the stuff!! Helps put additional hair on my chest. guinness67 Posted May 17, 2006 #24 Share Posted May 17, 2006 Adding a twist to the original post, does anyone know of any interesting beers that can be found in Aruba and Curacao? If my memory serves me correctly, there wasn't much offered in St. Thomas or Sint Maarten. Of course, I may have been in the wrong places. Let me know if I missed anything on those two islands.
