cruisin from florida Posted May 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2006 Looking at summer cruises for 07 - there are still a lot of primo cabins available. Should we book now, or wait until we are onboard in July so that we get the credits?
PhoenixCruiser Posted May 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2006 I would book now and cancel and rebook while on the cruise as long as 1) there were still good cabins left and 2) the price didn't increase to the point where the OBC would be minimal. ###
transam84 Posted May 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2006 If you're looking for a specific cabin, I'd book now. We booked our AOS GS just before our last cruise because I really wanted cabin 1324. It was the only GS on the edge of the hump. If you are not that particular about a specific cabin and there are alot of primo cabins left, you may want to wait until you get on board to get the cruise credit. As Phoenixcruiser says you can always cancel and rebook if there are still good cabins left.
negc Posted May 23, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2006 If the category and location of your stateroom is very important to you, book now while the selection is the greatest. In July when you are onboard, if there are similar staterooms available, the price is the same or only slightly more, book to get the onboard credit. You will probably have to wait until you are back home to cancel your original booking, but since you should not be in any penalty period that should not be a problem. A good travel agent might even help you transfer your new booking to the stateroom you already picked, but I'm not sure of the exact procedure. If prices have risen considerably or the selection of available cabins has diminished, you might decide to forego the onboard booking credit and keep your original booking. Good luck! jchiefs13 Posted May 23, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 23, 2006 Personally, I'm waiting until my September cruise to book my next one. But... part of my logic is that I can't get other folks to commit to something in 2007 just yet. JC
wrp96 Posted May 23, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 23, 2006 Prices may go up by the time you cruise in July (and especially by the time you cruise in September) so that your onboard credit may not offset that raise in prices. Book something now, if the price hasn't changed by the time you cruise then cancel to get the onboard credit.
cruisin from florida Posted May 23, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted May 23, 2006 8618 and 8620. We'll get the $99 off, plus the $100 Platinum balcony credit. We'll see what things look like come July. :-) thanks for the advice!
