Those perks are for Grand Suites and above. They also get priority tendering in ports that tender. Junior suites only get the priority embarkation and two C&A credits.

I don't even consider a junior suite a suite. It has no suite perks, except the extra cruise credit. I did not get priority embarkation when sailing in a junior suite out of Baltimore. I was directed to the regular check in line.

Is there a big difference between a Grand Suite and a Junior Suite? I understand that the Grand Suite is much larger, but, how about the bathroom in the Junior Suite? Is it a full bath or a typical cruise line bathroom where 1 person is crowd?

Grand Suite is much bigger than a Junior Suite. Much bigger balcony. Junior Suite has a full bath.

Hmmm, I wouldn't pay $300 more per person but then again, I'm cheap. We felt the Junior Suite was the perfect size for two people, although I wouldn't pay $300 more per person for a JS verses a D1.

I say yes, it is worth the upgrade, but beware, once you go Grand, it is hard to go back. The JS bathroom is a one-at-a-time (step up) facility in my opinion, but is certainly do-able, as is the room. It depends on what you like as far as the perks and special treatment. It would certainly be nice for a honeymoon (or any vacation) to get that extra touch that you dont/cant in the everyday work-a-day world. See this link to another thread regarding the GS where I posted our experience upgrading from the JS to a GS. We are travelling again in October on the Mariner and will be in a GS again. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=357716 (look for meripour)

If you cant link up, post again and I will email you direct.

Make this honeymoon the best! There are no do-overs or later trips to compare to wonderful first time memory for such a special occasion.

For me, part of the "is it worth it?" debate also hinges on which specific cabins are available. On a Radiance class ship, I would probably take JS 1100 over any GS (as Diamond members, we get the same perks as full suite people, so that of course factors into the decision) because I so love being on the stern of the ship and having an oversized balcony to lounge about on. IMHO, 1100 is a better cabin than GS1600, which is on the starboard side stern, especially when you factor in the cost difference on most cruises. I haven't sailed a Voyager class ship, but if I could get a cabin with a larger balcony, I would take the lower class in a heartbeat.

If it was a choice between a "regular" JS on the port or starboard side of the ship vs. a GS, I'd probably spring for the GS for $300 difference.

Would rather have a corner aft D1 than a bathtub and walk-in closet anyday! Now that being said if the price was right a Grand suite would be lovely(on a 7-day)plus the extra credit would be great. 3-5 day cruises I'd rather spend my $$ elsewhere.

My DW and I have not stayed in a GS yet, but have friends that have, and really enjoy the room. So far, we have only experieced OS, and they have, in addition to what GS have, a dining area, where many times we have had friends in for breakfast or dinner, and in additions to a jacuzzi tub, a seperate shower. Also for the ladies that want them, a bidet.

What is the cruise credit for?

As you earn cruise credits, you move up the Crown & Anchor Society (frequent cruiser program). after your first cruise, you're a Gold member. 5 credits gets you to Platinum, 10 to Diamond, 24 to Diamond Plus. If you look on RCI's website under the C&A section, you'll see the perks attached to each level. Gold is ok (coupon books good for discounts on drinks & spa, casino credits) & a welcome back party on cruises over 7 nights), Platinum is good (bigger discounts & freebies in the coupon book, Platinum/Diamond event, special disembarkation lounge, discounts on balcony & above cabins), Diamond & up is terrific (Platinum bennies on steroids, priority disembarkation/tendering, concierge services on ships w/concierge club), IMHO, although I would love to see free Internet access and laundry for Diamond, the way Princess does for its Elite passengers.

I was in an OS on Explorer and I thought that was my own personal beer cooler :p

Thank you for such a great idea. On the next cruise, I will have the cabin attendant pull all of the beer and select sodas from the "mini bar" that does not really work, and put them in the new "personal beer cooler"!! It will be iced down 3 times per day, by our attendent, Silvia, not letting the level of ice drop below the rim by more than 2 inches.

Oh....Silvia.....Silvia........I need more ice!!!

Who would need an ice bucket anymore. When you have friends in for a cocktail..........just send them into the bidet, and tell them to fix their own!!:D :D

Thanks for the fantasy, but I think NOT!!!

JS has bigger balcony and a bathtub as well. Our JS was VERY spacious for the 2 of us. Really more room then we needed. And yes, the bathroom is bigger then cabin of lower cat.
