Penthouse upgrade on Star

Just received a call from NCL to upgrade from a mini suite to a AE penthouse and we went for it. Location appears to be on deck 9 at front of ship. Besides for the obvious in the room what if any advantages come with this that we should be aware of as this is our first cruise. They advised we have Butler service and as I have never used these services before and feel kind of naive , any tips or guidelines on this will also be helpful. I am leaving for rest of day as I am taking my god daughter to her first baseball game Mets vs Cincy so thanks in advance and I will read tomorrow in AM.

You will have a great time, now you know that once you have been in a penthouse suite you can never go back to a regular cabin. One thing to remember with the suites in the front is, never open the deck door and the cabin door at the same time while the ship is moving. The air moving throgh cabin is like a tornado.

Congrats! We had a similar deal on the Sun. We loved our penthouse. We did not utilize the Butler much, but we enjoyed the goodies he brought every day. You will enjoy a wonderful VIP embarkation. Do not stand in any lines! go straight to the front and you will be quickly escorted to the VIP area. We were served refreshments, etc. while we waited to check in.

We used the concierge for movies (the room will have a DVD player). We used the China in the China Cabinet for sipping wine. You will love the bathroom.

You are going to have a wonderful time. Bon Voyage! Enjoy!

On the STAR the AE cabins are on the back of the ship on decks 8 & 9, terrific location. If you are on the front of the ship you will have an AA Owners Suiteor AC Penthouse. We love the aft/back of the ship location.

The butler will be the person to call instead of room service. You will have a full roomservice menu with many options to choose from. Meals can be served in your cabin from any of the restaurants. The concierge will help you with any dinner reservations, or tender tickets that are needed.

Just got home from our game which my niece enjoyed a lot despite the Mets downfall. I am a bit tired ( it's a 2 plus hour drive home from NYC ) and up real early tomorrow but E mail I recd is room 9500 which appears at front . Thanks again for all your advice , I can just see all my stuff being sucked into the hallway if cabin and balconey open. We are very uncomfortable in this VIP role so much that I always want to help clear the table at a restaurant etc. Oh well I guess that's what the butler is there for. My wife is a Oncology Nurse and she voluntered at a golf benefit for her hospital today and she and her friend won $1500.00 apiece at the raffle. I guess the upgrade was meant to be.
