gowolfpack Posted June 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2004 Will be in San Juan for a couple of days pre and post cruise. Would like to get in some beach time while we're there. Which beach is the best - white sand, crystal blue water & watersports?
RichardK Posted June 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2004 The beaches in the Isle Verde area may not be the "best" in P.R., but that stretch of beach is lovely nonetheless. Plus, it's convenient to both the airport and Old San Juan where the cruise ships embark. A number of lovely hotels line the beach -- i.e., the Intercontinental, the Wyndham El San Juan, the ESJ, etc. Water sports, restaurants, etc., as you choose.........!! prbabe Posted July 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2004 If you have time go to a beach outside the San Juan Area (Luquillo is nice & only an hour away). If you have more time go to Fajardo Seven Seas Beach. The best beach in Puerto Rico is not on the mainland, but in Culebra.
snoopy_leogirl Posted July 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2004 In San Juan: Isla Verde and Condado are pretty neat beaches with nice scenery all around you.
chicaletta Posted August 21, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 21, 2004 Had a great time at Luquillo beach. But I have to agree with previous poster..if you have enough time ever..go to Culebra
beachlovergirl Posted September 7, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 7, 2004 If you don't have a lot of time but just want to spend a few hours on a nice beach can you use the Isle Verde beaches near the Intercontinental or Wyndham El San Juan? Can anyone use the beaches? Can you rent chairs or umbrellas or are they only for hotel guests?

See the prior discussion in this thread. this looks like it's the closest beach from old sj have you or anyone been there and how does it compare to the other, more popular beaches....( isla verde...condado...dorado ) is it more secluded or crowded? gands cruising Posted September 18, 2004 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2004 I stayed at the Intercontential a couple of years and the beach was great. We will only be in San Juan about 6 hours that means about 5 hours of shore time. What area would be the best to go to? Are there public areas that rent? or do you go to the hotels? I guess the cabs drivers would know where to drop you off. I have been to San Juan several times and have done the forts and rain forrest. It is our last stop before heading home on the Maasdam in NOV
