Toyz711 Posted July 31, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2006 any time you go into a casino, land or sea, you go and sign up the their "card club". at the land based casinos ('vegas, tunica, new jersey, gulf coast...any where) they rate your play by you inserting your card in the machines. the higher you rate the more comps you get. at the present time, i keep 5 cards in purse at all times. if you are going to play, get rated. some have money-back programs, some you just earn points toward stuff. if you play a lot and on $$ machines, they really love you. but without the card, they don't know how nice to treat you. (sorry, been going to 'vegas w/parents since i was 12 ...long time ago. loved 'vegas before it grew up too much, now live less then 60 miles from tunica)
CruisinMK Posted July 31, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2006 Is it really worth it? Gambling comps are the most expensive free stuff in the world! :)

foursum Posted July 31, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2006 Can someone explain to me what exactly the casinos at sea program is??? Is it a credit card or just a playing card? Is it really worth it? Anyone have specifics???? Actually there are two parts to the Casino program. The first is the discount/comp on the cruise- Casino at Sea staff will ask for copies of your players cards. Should get at least 17% off. Next is the on-board credit possible with a lot of casino time/$$$ on the ship.
Stillfloatin' Posted July 31, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2006 On my past Jewel cruise, I averaged about 2 hours a day on quarter slots, made sure I played during the "double points" hours and ended up gettting $280 deducted from my onboard account. Sweet.
Toyz711 Posted July 31, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2006 i like the on-board credit part. i guess i WILL spend some time there. since i live an hour away from casinos, i wasn't planning on much time there. maybe i will tell DH about on-board credit? it's just a good idea to always take advantage of any casino's membership. even the little ole ladies (notice i didn't say ''old"?), who pay one penny at a time, can earn free buffets and feel good about it. johnql Posted July 31, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2006 If you're planning to gamble in the casino anyway, there's no downside to signing up for the Casinos at Sea card since there's no fee. However, I wouldn't gamble just with the thought of getting the onboard credit. This is especially true if you're a tables player. You accrue the onboard credit much faster playing slots than playing the tables.
Toyz711 Posted July 31, 2006 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2006 table players get rated differently, even at land base casinos. i have a higher rating at a couple of the casinos, drives DH crazy. a very simple example of what happens: the table player is rated by his buy-in (amount changed to chips at the tables) then watched for his average bet and time played. a slot player gets "points" for the amount that goes through their account. example only: 100 points = 1 reward credit, some places are better some lots worse. sounds like on-board credits beats any cash-back i have gotten lately. love the games at one casino, but they have THE worse cash-back program. wonder what games they have on the star, multi-line video games? mikkimatic Posted July 31, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 31, 2006 how did you get a 17% discount? after spending a few thousand $$ in the casino on the Star this past week, we only got a total of $94 for on board credit...
mikkimatic Posted July 31, 2006 #11 Share Posted July 31, 2006 Pay attention to your daily 'freestyle' programs. Look for casino times and specials. At certain times (usually after midnight) you can earn double and triple points. We just got back from the Star to Alaska yesterday. Of the thousands of $$ we spent in the casino we only got back $94 compt towards the bill (which was a little over $1500 for the both of us.) As I just found out from this message board, table games don't payback squat. Next time, and there will be a next time, I'll stick to the bonus point times. Also, the slots seem to give you a longer play time and better pay off late at night. (ANYONE GOING ON THE STAR--THE BEST QUARTER SLOTS WERE ACROSS FROM THE TABLE GAMES (black jack, bowtie, peppers,etc..) By the way, contrary to so many bad reviews on this site, we had an unbelievably good time. Thanks to all the wonderful staff, activities and excursions. Anyone have specifics???? hunnypie Posted July 31, 2006 #12 Share Posted July 31, 2006 Hello, I will be going on Norwegian in Sept. How do I go about signing up for the card? Thanks!
sjbdtz Posted July 31, 2006 #13 Share Posted July 31, 2006 On my last NCL cruise, I finished the trip up about $2800 usd, got $65 off our onboard bill, dinner for 2 at Le Bistro, and then got 18% off our suite for the upcoming trip (about $1200 savings). I was betting $25/hand at the table games.... So...I think the program is excellent! :

Dancyalien Posted July 31, 2006 Author #15 Share Posted July 31, 2006 Thanks everyone for your input.... When I first saw it, it looked like a credit card which made me really leary. But then I saw that you could in addition get a line of casino credit. I think thats a totally bad idea when your gambling. The casino at sea card sounds like a great idea. I dont plan on gambling too much. I like to play a few slots, but Ill make sure to play during those "special" times. Thanks for the tips!
nycruiser1975 Posted July 31, 2006 #16 Share Posted July 31, 2006 This was a good thread, I was wondering the same thing. When can I get the card? DH and I are going on Spirit in July, and How do I sign up for it?
mburnell Posted July 31, 2006 #17 Share Posted July 31, 2006 You just sign up in the casino. We had pre-registered on the Jewel but they had no record of it so we just signed up in the casino. We played a lot and did not get much back but it was better than nothing as we were going to play anyway. We did witness several people getting all of the on board charges comped. We are going on the Sun in October and when I called to get a casino rate they gave us 18% off so the card is worth something. It is free to get and use so you may as well get a player card and use it.
