Drive Sarasota to FLL ?

We'll be over on the west coast of Flroida, around Sarasota, for a few days before our cruise - Enchantment of the Seas on Oct. 9.

How far of a drive is it from Sarasota to FLL? How long will it take?

Also - does anyone know what car rental company has a location at the port, so we can turn our car in?

Thanks!

As I recall it's about a 3 1/2 hour drive over Alligator Alley and I 75.

Budget Rent a Car has an office near the port and they will drop you off and pick you up.

There is also a Cruise Connection bus that goes from Sarasota to FLL.

I have done the reverse and used Alamo car rental. It took me about 2 hours including one rest stop; I 75 to Alligator Alley. My house is at Rt 75 Clark Rd. Once you drop off the car at the off airport location, they will shuttle you to the port, which is about a 5 minute drive. You may wish to drive to the port, drop off your passengers and luggage so only one has to do the shuttle. I do not believe any rental car agencies have Port offices as the airport location is so close.

Bon Voyage

You must live near us and drive faster than us....LOL

The Budget office is at 17th St & Causeway at the Quay which is near the entrance to the pier.:D

I have also made the drive 2 or 3 times from Clarke but closer to US41 and I agree, 2 hours is not enough. The distance from there to FLL is around 200 miles. I believe you should allow about 3 hours to be safer and the time depends on where you leave from Sarasota. If you are north near Fruitville Rd and not close to 75 you may want to figure in more time.

I will be on the Enchantment on Oct 23.
