--Would love to get this Princess shore excursion as a surprise for DH. It's pricey ($499) but it's all day, and he really likes to fish. (LOL) Has anyone done this or another fishing excursion in Aus or NZ? Thanks.

"Lake Rotorua or Lake Rotoiti - An experienced guide takes you by boat to the best spots on one of these two trout havens. Your fishing trip includes gear, license, picnic lunch and guide.

LUNCH

Once you have landed your catch, it will be prepared and served beside the lake shore.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY

The scenic 50-mile drive from Tauranga brings you to the Rotorua lake region, a geothermal wonderland and a trout fisherman’s paradise."

You can do this as a private tour, set it up yourself by finding a local tour company in Tauranga [ a few to choose from]. The cost of $499 US is quite high especially as they will be selling this to a group from 2 to 20 persons.

If you are on your own then its probably the only way to do it as a single person trip would cost much the same as a trip for 2 or 4. Get a few others to join you and then it starts to make sense.

The trout fishing on lake Rotorua is awesome and we know that you always manage to catch your lunch. If you catch more than you can eat then the rest normally get left with the boat owner, though i think thats a bit much as you have paid him to catch fish. Why not stop in on the way back to the ship and give any extra fish to an old folks home or hopice, the driver of your transport should be able to set this up for you. Let us know if you want any more info on this. Regards Ian [Tauranga]
