 how much time should I allow between LAX and port? Diamond Princess cruise leaves at 5:00 pm. Flt arrives at 11:15. The same on return , flt leaves at 12:10 pm - would have to check in by 11. Cruise arrives at 7. Is this enough time on both ways?

normal traffic it is around 45 minutes from LAX to port. give allowance for getting your luggage, out to get a cab or super shuttle, that means it may be 12:30 when you finally get going. LA traffic is totally unpredictable. Diamond sails on Saturday, so that should help. Cruise line usually may wait late passengers from departure point a little bit.

On the return, it really depends on how Diamond has improved its debarkation. The Alaska sailings so far have been a nightmare from people's posts. Many people could not make their noon flights at Seattle.

LAX security line is infamously long, easily takes 30-45 minutes.

Do you already have your tickets? If not, is it possible to fly into Long Beach? It's a smaller airport, so not so many flights or options, but it's MUCH closer to the pier than LAX.

I agree that your departure time is tight. LAX is always crowded with long lines. Your arrival time of 11:15 should be no problem.
