JohnSC Posted November 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2006 We are thinking of flying in a day early rather the book our flight through the cruise line. It will definitely be less expensive and get us the most direct route without paying the deviation charge. Those are the pros. What about the cons? Have others taken this route? What was your experience? Lastly, we would be arriving at about 9:30 PM on the day prior to the cruise and are looking for recommendation for a conveniently located hotel in Papeete. Any suggestion? dog Posted November 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Re: flights....Princess can give you an estimate of flight costs with them. You can request air with Princess and cancel this request up to your final payment date while you watch for a seat sale. I have to tell you though I have followed the air prices for over 2 years now and don't remember one for August. Ours was for Sept. and we did it this way. Go to the Air Tahiti Nui site and check out prices frequently. If you find a good air fare on your own - book it and then call Princess or your TA and cancel the requested air with them. If you request pre and/or post cruise flights with Princess they will charge the $75 US deviation fee which is non refundable if you change your mind and go with booking your own flight. This happened to us but we saved quite a bit on the seat sale prices that it was well worth it. J.
