dmfriedman Posted June 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2004 I'll be staying overnight near the airport next week before boarding Carnival Spirit at Canada Place. When I take a taxi from the hotel to the pier, will they generally accept US Dollars at a reasonable exchange rate, or should I convert a little bit of money just for that? I'll also do a tiny bit of shopping (picking up Pepsi and bottled water) after I check my luggage at the pier, but for that I figure I'll just use my credit card. Thanks!

Also known as Dave, who is Openly Addicted to Cruising! until I hop on my last-minute cruise choice -- the Carnival Spirit to Alaska! until I set sail on the Carnival Glory with O.A.T.C.! Sitmar Fairwind (7/87–Caribbean) ⊕ Sitmar Fairwind (12/88–Panama Canal) Carnival Sensation (8/00–Caribbean) ⊕ Grand Princess (5/01–Caribbean) Crystal Harmony (8/02–Alaska) ⊕ Carnival Conquest (9/03–Caribbean) Carnival Spirit (6/04–Alaska) ⊕ Carnival Glory (9/04–Caribbean) If's the ship is a-rockin'... Urban trekker Posted June 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2004 You probably won't get a very good exchange rate on the taxi - almost all taxis take credit cards - use it and you will get a better rate. grouchy Posted June 13, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 13, 2004 Take a Black Top or Checker Cab-they will have the rate posted beside their ID. Time for another Cruise!
Beachcombers Posted June 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2004 Banks are still the best for exchange.. convert a few dollars and save yourself the hassle
Michelle! Posted July 15, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2004 The only place I would not use US dollars is in the taxi's - I wish I could say that all our drivers are perfect and would never consider taking advantage. I have heard many stories that tell me otherwise. Use your credit card and save the hassle - maybe exchange a few dollars when you get to your hotel for pocket money. Have Fun!
