Ok, brand new member here...I know I may need to post this in the main forum but it is a question related to Conquest. thx ahead of time for your patience and help.

 

I've got to decide between Carnival Conquest 7 day cruise and Carnival Ecstasy 5 day cruise in February 09. I need to make the booking today if possible!

 

Brief facts: 2 adults, one 2 yr old, one 6 yr old, my wife and I have been on 2 NCL cruises, kids are very outgoing and travel well, we live in Houston.

 

Question:

 

Those with cruise experience...would you opt for the Ecstasy and have a little more $ to blow? Or take the Conquest and operate with a little less spending $?

We live in Tomball and have sailed Conquest twice and Ecstasy once. We also sailed Elation twice and Jubilee once from Galveston. My view is that a seven day cruise beats a five day cruise by two days. :D

 

Seriously though I would recommend Conquest over Ecstasy. Conquest has a larger and better provisioned Camp Carnival area, that will be a plus for your six year-old. The ship will also be fresh out of drydock February 1'st and will be in top shape. The addition of the seaside theater will also be a plus for your family. Both cruises will stop in Cozumel but you will find a ton of things to do in MoBay and Grand Cayman that you can't do in Progreso.

 

I don't mean to make Ecstasy sound bad in any way as we would not hesitate to sail her again. But given the choice between the two ships we prefer Conquest.

what is the cost PER DAY for EACH of the cruises? I have found sometimes the 5 day is not much cheaper or can be more expensive PER DAY...that would help me decide.

 

p.s. I would choose the Conquest though, WE LOVE her!

The Conquest is only $10 pp/pd more than the Ecstasy, wow, that almost makes the decision too easy! lol

Both ships sound great but since we're not heavy drinkers (we'll take our own wine), we don't gamble, and we're not souvineer junkies...I figure the extra $ is better spent on the longer vacation/better ports/larger ship fresh out of some upgrades, we'll just take it easy on the "extras".

Excellent decision! I also have been on both ships, and my choice is the Conquest! I loved them both, but there are a lot more choices of things to do on the Conquest, (and more places to eat). You will have a great time and I wish I could see the look on your wife's face when she gets her present! Awesome gift!!!:)

Can anyone who's sailed on the Conquest very recently tell me if the ship is changing time to match Jamaica and Cayman port time? The last time I was on there, they did not. I'm trying to make some plans for Cayman, and 'ship time' could play a factor in how much I can squeeze into one day. :D

Not any cappichino,frappachino, or any other fancy coffee, just plain coffee.My dad and hubby are VERY early risers,(probably getting up just as others are turning in) and have to have their am coffee. we were just wondering if there is 24 hour coffee, otherwise, we will do the room service thing.

The 3 times I sailed on the Conquest ship's time did not change. Then we were on U.S. daylight savings time so we had the same time as Jamaica. On our Halloween cruise Cozumel was not on daylight savings time so the times were different.

Coffee is served 24 hours a day on the Lido deck.

I was on the Conquest Nov 16-23, and yes we did change time. On Monday night (the first sea day) we moved our clocks forward one hour, and on Thursday night (Grand Cayman day) we moved our clocks back one hour.

Your Cruise Director, Ralph Valente has invented a Cruise Critic Secret Sign!

 

He did it at our 12/14 Conquest Sailing Meet and Greet! It was a way that we could identify ourselves, both to each other, and to him.

 

Here's how it goes:

 

Make a C with your left hand. Make a mirror image C (backwards) with your right hand. Hold them up in front of you about 4 inches apart. Just a quick "CC Flash" for a couple of seconds. (kinda like you're taking a picture with an invisible camera...)

 

Ralph would flash this secret sign before the shows, and if one of our CC group responded, he would escort them to front row seats. If you said hi to him, he was friendly, but if you flashed the CC secret sign, he was really friendly! (I guess that's because we got him 90 Spicy BBQ wings in Grand Cayman!)

 

You would probably really freak him out if you flashed him the secret sign early on in the cruise!

 

Try to get Host Mach involved, he will arrange for Ralph to come to any meet and greet that you set up. In ours, he brought a comedian, and had trivia games for trinkets (coozies, drink coupons, head massage, etc). We had like 65 attending, and it was a lot of fun.

Y'all are making me excited about our cruise on the Conquest -- July 12 to go on the new iten.

 

Does anyone know if there is a thread for that cruise? Also, RCCL has Meet n Mingle. Does Carnival have an equivalent? If so, where do you find it?

Slot tournaments typically cost $20 to enter. You play with the same starting amount, and the person(s) with the highest total at a fixed time of play either moves on to the finals, or is the winner.

Just recently got our cabin assignment for our 2-15-09 sailing on the Conquest. We got a nice upgrade to cabin 1110 on the Spa Deck. Anyone have any information on the cabin or the location in general?
