Noordam questions -- ship and sailing from NY

I'll be traveling with family on the 2/17/07 sailing of the Noordam from NY. This is our first HAL experience (many Celebrity sailings) and we have several questions:

1) Do the slot machines in the casino take coins or are they "paperless"?

2) When sailing out of NY, is the Statue of Liberty typically on the port or starboard side of the ship (or does it vary regularly)?

3) Where is a good place to gather for pre- and post-dinner cocktails? On Celebrity we typically go to the Martini Bar or Cova, but I can't figure out if there's a comparable place on the Noordam.

4) What's your favorite thing about the Noordam (a location, service, food, overall decor, etc.)?

Thanks!

To answer your questions:

Coins

2) When sailing out of NY, is the Statue of Liberty typically on the port or starboard side of the ship (or does it vary regularly)?

Liberty is always starboard when sailing out of NYC and portside when sailing home.

(there just ain't room between Ellis Island and New Jersey for big ships to sail...)

Pre-Dinner: Ocean Bar - Deck 3 Midships overlooking the Atrium. Tell Sigrid I said "Hello" :)

Post Dinner: Piano Bar - play "Stump the Piano Player" w/ Randal - He's lots of fun (But don't ever ask him to play Billy Joel's "Piano Man" unless you want to get tossed overboard!)

;)

4) What's your favorite thing about the Noordam (a location, service, food, overall decor, etc.)?

Geez - way too many to mention...

...but Noordam is the most beautiful of the Vistas and the staff & crew are among the best in the fleet.

Enjoy!

Coins

IIRC you could use nickels and pennies in those machines, but for others you had to either use bills or those gold-colored tokens that are the same size as a quarter.

Randall is leaving the Noordam this Saturday. :( He was great fun and I am glad I finally had a chance to enjoy a Piano Bar where he entertained. :) Hopefully, We'll Meet Again.

I wish him well with his plans in NYC.

He said that Kory Simon will be returning as his replacement. Another fun time in that lounge!
