Freebies! Or not?

Recommended Posts

I wanted to start this New Thread because on "Cruise Air" the subject of lower airfare to Europe somehow got turned around and the subject of "Free Certificates for sale on E-Bay were being posted. I really though this might be a good thread to get started so here it goes:

I have booked six cruises now and thought I had heard everything until I listened to a fellow worker who bragged about his free cruise to the Bahama's? Please let it be known this was the same guy that tried to buy a 1966 Mustag Cobra on Ebay from a person in one of the Eastern European blocks because they couldn't affort the gas. He said he had a free flight from one of the major airlines to Orlando and was planning on two to three days before taking their "Free Cruise" to the Bahama's. I asked him which cruiseline and he said he would bring the paper work in to show me. First question "How do I get from Orlando to the port of Miami". (He was thinking about taking a taxi). My advice was to get a rental car or fly from Orlando to Miam on Air Tram. (Gee it was going to cost him $50 bucks a person each way). Anyway he handed me this nice looking paper work with a picture of a nice looking lady on it and he had to call a 1-800 number to make an appointment. However he would have to pay port fees of $189 a person. Not bad for three days. I finally ran across a picture of the ship which looks much bigger than the "Minow" but more in the line of the "Akkitylarow" misspelled of coarse but you get the point. Right away I pointed out to him this looks like a "Timeshare"? His answer was "no problem, how do you think I get the free nights in Las Vegas".

As far as I know this guy is going to take is wife on their first cruise to the Bahamas this summer. Not only that but its free. I made sure to tell his to ask alot of guestions. Is there a Casino, what time are the shows, is there a choice of early dining or late dining, what ports do we tender in, do they serve escargo, is this a ship or a boat, do the cabins come with a butler.

By the way...his $5300 he tried to wire for the car from Ebay didn't go through...his bank wouldn't let the transaction go through. Does anyone else have a similar story or what would you tell him to ask about the free cruise? This could be an interesting thread. Tim

I did that once, but I negotiated an upgrade to a 5 day cruise for about $50 pp. It was on a Carnival Cruise and we had a blast. I took my daughter. We also got a 3 nights in Orlando, 2 nights in Ft Lauderdale, free car rental and a night in Datona Beach. The other people that I talked to ,that didin't upgrade their cruise, said that the cruise was OK, but not like a Carnival Cruise. Probably more like a "Big Red Boat" type of cruise.

Best of Luck!!

Dancejuani,

I got an update. Today in the mail was a flyier "Round trip Caribbean cruise for two" this is a drawing at a car dealer and there with a picture of the ship its "The Majestic M/V Regal Emperss" Apparently the ship went into commision back in the fifties and is sort of a relic amoung ship lovers. I acturally think my fellow worker would like the cruise. First of all its cheap, kind of tacky but looks like a lot of fun. Apparently the staff is noted for people having a good time. The ship does have a swimming pool although it sure does look small. I'm going to tell him to go for it.

The flyier looks something like this:

Shopping Spree

$1500 CASH

3day, 2 night get away

GRAND PRIZE CRUISE

WINNNER

Note: Must come in to Register (Car Dealer XXXXXX)
