sharilyn55 Posted February 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2007 Has anyone done the float trip in Denali in May. We will be there in the middle of May and wonder if we will see any animals and if it's worth the money. Thanks!
wolfie11 Posted February 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2007 There are a number of float trips, so I'm not sure which one exactly you're referring to. However, in general, these trips are more for the rafting experience than seeing animals. There's always a chance you'll see more than birds, a moose or bear, for example, but I wouldn't count on it. nextelcup Posted February 13, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2007 What about the scenery on these milder raft trips at Denali? We are thinking of it for our June trip after we go on the TWT in the a.m. Here's a reply from Denali Raft Adventures, Inc. to some questions I e-mailed them. "We offer the McKinley Run at 6:30 pm and provide pick up and drop off at the Denali Wilderness Princess Lodge at 6:20 pm."
Chenega Posted February 13, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2007 Wife and I think the scenery is ok but your chances of seeing wildlife are pretty limited. Keep in mind that the water of the Nenana is very cold too. The white water trip is a "hang on" adventure through the Nenana Canyon.
D4 Posted February 13, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2007 We've done it in June. I don't remember seeing any animals because I was too busy hanging on!!! It was definitely a rafting trip, not animal watching.
Red Rox Posted February 13, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2007 Too cold for me! I'll stick to the Grand Canyon. Now that's a raft trip!

Now that's a raft trip! This is a float trip, not white water rafting. Is the water too cold to even sit in the raft?
