ladybug9557 Posted February 22, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2007 I have a 4 night cruise planned in April for the SOS. I'm very excited because this is my first cruise, actually it's my first time ever being in any kind of boat. How is the formal night, the night clubs, and the casinos. I hope the cruise fairy comes to me because how I would love to have a balcony room. I read on some reviews that Nassau was dirty; is that true? Do the birds really chase after your food on RCI private island. Are we allowed to bring our own snorkeling gear. Has anyone ever taken an iron on board, because I'm seriously thinking about taking mine. HELP ME.
Aprille Posted February 22, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2007 First of all, welcome to CC! You'll find tons of useful information here. But in order to help you further here we will need to know which SOS you are referring to! ;) Sovereign Serenade Splendour Edited to add: Irons are a big no-no on ships. They are a fire hazard. Yes, you can bring your own snorkel gear. Actually I would advise doing so unless you want to use gear you have no idea if/how it was sanitized/cleaned. EWWW! cb at sea Posted February 22, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2007 Formal night is fun--definitely do it! We've never won much in a ship's casino--good luck to you! Nassau isn't so much "dirty" as boring!!! If it's your 1st trip, you will have fun and enjoy it. Next time you go, it's a nice place to stay on the ship and use what you've paid for!! We had no bird problem on Coco Cay! Yes, you can bring your own gear. Yes, folks do take irons aboard, but the folks on this board will get REALLY mad if you tell them you're going to, so ...shhhh! There's really nowhere to iron--the only outlet is across the room from the bed--and I wouldn't want to iron on the floor, so just iron at home, and don't worry about it! The humidity in the Caribbean will just wrinkle your clothes about 10 minutes after putting them on. Everyone will look "rumpled!"
ladybug9557 Posted February 22, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted February 22, 2007 Sorry I didn't specify which ship I would be on. Sovereign of the Seas. I know it's kind of old but I hear that it's still a great ship. Thanks for the advise on the iron. I will iron before I leave home. If you have any more useful information, please let me know
veryhotred Posted February 22, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2007 I am sailing on the Sov in May, will be my first cruise on RC but my second cruise overall. I have been to Nassau once before, it is okay but missing it wouldn't bother me. I didn't think it was dirty, we walked around the market and all the tourist shops downtown and then took a taxi to Atlantis and sat on the beach, that was nice! The only reason I will get off the ship this time is to take the kids into town so they can say they have been to the Bahamas, otherwise I would prob stay on board and enjoy the empty ship..lol..
