i just heard there was a bomb threat called into the coast guard for carnivals sensation vessel

 

i think they said the ship's been evacuated

 

i've never heard of a cruise ship having a bomb threat? has this happened before?

Yes, it is not unheard of for a cruise ship to be subject of a bomb threat.

 

Several years ago, there was a threat against QE2, and bomb disposal specialists were dropped on the ship, mid-ocean, by Royal Air Force helos.

 

Story later was fictionalized, and made into a rather dramatic, but poor, movie.

 

There have been several bomb threats against Princess ships at San Pedro.

LAPD has bomb squad officers who are scuba qualified to handle that sort of situation.
