Recommended Posts

Okay, going on my first RCI cruise in a couple of weeks. I am on the JOS. I know how passiionate everyone is about ships, so if you have been on this ship and have tips/must do's will you share?

We are at sea for 7 days and I want to soak up everything I can on the ship!

Thanks in advance!

Jewel experts ........... not really.

Jewel is a beautiful ship!

The best advice is read the compass carefully everynight. Take advantage of the special dinners. Choose what interests you and do it. If you aren't sure what something is be sure to ask.

Wish we were going ............ :)

We really enjoyed the Jewel. I think that we enjoyed the "adult only" solarium the most. It was such a nice place to relax, read, get some sun, and be able to swim without alot of children. Don't get me wrong about the children statement......they have their own pool with water slide, etc.

I agree with Petel....read your compass and know what's going on. If you choose not to participate in a scheduled activity you'll know where the "quiet" areas will be.

We actually went to the movies twice (on a B2B - so it was a 14 night cruise), and really enjoyed that too. Playing pool in the Safari Lounge was a blast. We were terrible, but it just made the game/fun last longer!

I'm sure you won't have any problem finding just the right thing to do to make your vacation a blast.

Solarium is great, rock-a-rokie is fun, casino slots are tight, Schoonar bar is lively, vortex is fun (dont lose your drink as it spins around), crepes in Solarium are good, salads are good as well as the hot dogs in the back of the ship, Safari club is relaxing most of the time, try finding the peep hole through the floor into the atrium, forward elevators are alot less busy then the ones midship, great windjammer design. HMMM. I guess I eat alot.

Could be my favorite ship!

Beautiful - glass everywhere so you are always looking at the sea!

Have lunch or late night snack in the Seaview Cafe - good old fashioned burgers, shakes, onion rings.

I agree with the earlier post - the solarium is so beautiful! They even have sound effects - birds chirping etc.

Delicious crepes made fresh as well there.

Some crepe-makers are better than others so check out the technique before you order and maybe wait for the next shift.

Pizza there are well.

Hope you have a great time!

(we are going on the Liberty - but I have to admit there's a part of me that would love to be going back on the Jewel.)
