Does anyone out there know the e-mail address for Princess cruises in order for me to ask them about their smoking/non-smoking policy?

I'm looking to book another cruise but I am puzzled why the smokers get the best seats in the bars and balconies while the rest of us literally suck it up. It's not allowed on all airlines, nor many other major venues including upscale restaurants so I don't understand why it's supposedly acceptable to have the acrid smell and stink of the smoke infiltrate the areas where we try to enjoy a drink, view or the Princess hired performer. In one of my other lives, I too, was a smoker and it didn't take a rocket scientist to make me understand the incredible damage I was doing to my entire body and being in the medical field, it became a no-brainer to quit. Consequently, I'm not prepared to pay big bucks to suck in someone else's burning tobacco. They would not appreciate the burning of something acrid or putrid fanned in their direction and would appreciate the same courtesy. I do understand they pay the same monies to enjoy similar amenities but if you notice, smokers always make sure they hold their cigarettes away from their own face so that it doesn't annoy them.:(

Would appreciate any/all input.

Muchas gracias.

Hi Watergal!

I am not a smoker either but there are many out there and not all states have a smoking bans. It is quite common in some states to still have smoking in restaurants.

Anyway, there is no smoking in dining areas, shows areas and usually only on one side of the pool decks. I just read live from the Crown that there is a smoke free night in the casino.

There are been many smoking threads (too many! ) so if you do a search under smoking I'm sure you will find information and many points of view.

Good Luck!

And also remember that it matters absolutely nothing what the US state or federal laws are.

Unless you step aboard an american cruise line (Cruise West, etc.) you are on foreign soil (or decks shall we say). Technically, you are in Liberia, Panama or other lands with flags of convenience.

Most americans assume that these companies are american. They aren't. In the US, they only opperate the escential functions. Everything else is off-shore - hence the huge profits...

Watergal, that's a very good point. If you take a cruise with lots of sea days or if there's bad weather, the inside lounges are important as many events are scheduled in them. It's very annoying to have an event in the Wheelhouse, for instance, which on the Island/Coral has the smoking section near the windows, which is where they have events. Or Crooners, where again the smoking section is next to the windows. On the Golden Princess, if you wanted to go into the Wheelhouse bar to pick up a drink, you're in the smoking section. Hard to hold your breath while someone makes your drink or gets you a soda.

I don't know if there's a good answer. I know that on the Regal Princess, at least one lounge (I believe the Bengal) is completely non-smoking.

If you are allergic to smoke, as I am, and events are scheduled so that they take place in the smoking part of a lounge, then it is a concern. This isn't whining but rather a health issue. There is nothing worse than going to a lecture, for instance, and having people around you smoking. Since that is the only place the lecture is being held, you don't have a choice. It's either get sick or not attend.

Or to quote the formal night people.... "You chose to cruise on a line which permits smoking." So maybe another, non-smoking cruiseline might be better suited to you"..... or....... "If you don't like the smoke, you can just stay in your cabin, or outside...nobody is forcing you to go to the lecture...there are other people speaking, elsewhere" (this is my mockery of the idea of eating in the buffet ;) )
