Extra key for children's cabin

Recommended Posts

How do I go about getting an extra key for each of the 2 cabins that the minors traveling in our group will be staying in? Do I do it when we are still in Miami or at the guest relations desk once aboard or something entirely different?

We are just recently back from the Freedom and had the same question as you. Here is what we did:

After boarding we went to the Customer Service Desk and asked for an additional key for our kids room as well as an additional key for our room. We put their extra key in our room and they kept our extra key in theirs. I suppose you could ask when you register at Miami but it always seems so busy and we were anxious to get on the ship and did not want to hold up the line. It was quick and easy to get the extra key on the ship.

Just walk up to the Purser's Desk / Guest Relations Desk and say, "Excuse me. May I please have a key for Cabin xxxx and Cabin xxxx, which are my children's cabins?"

You will have them in no time flat. :)

We embarked late (around 3) and asked at check-in how to go about it. When we booked, because the girls were minors we had booked with my husband and one niece in one cabin and me in the other cabin with the other two. We wanted to make sure the keys/Seapasses matched up to our real cabins plus I wanted a spare key for theirs. We were literally the only people in the whole checkin line and they said that since the printers weren't busy they'd be happy to make them for us there. It saved us a trip to the guest relations once we got on board.

We'll be occupying 2 connecting rooms with younger kids so we'll actually hang onto their keys anyway. Does anyone know if they can all be keyed to open either door? I suppose it really doesn't matter much either way, just curious. I'm assuming they weren't offically allowed their own room so one adult and one child will be technically assigned to each room. It would just be a tad easier if my key could get me into either room. I suppose if the interior doors are propped open all the time it really doesn't matter. I assume bringing standard rubber door stops will help keep them open? Thanks.
