Jeannie--I leave for London on Thursday and come back on the QM2 on the 25th.

Last month I did a Prinsendam crossing to Lisbon. Loved it, found it much like QE2.

All business of course.

Hi Jeanne.........No, haven't tried the NCL Dawn yet. Been on the Rotterdam twice and loved it. Also cruised on the Triumph (maiden voyage) and sailed on the Carnival Legend (8 days) last August. Enjoyed them immensely. We were supposed to be on your sailing, but had to cancel. I am sure we will enjoy our July 4th sailing.

Your review was quite informative and so sorry for your aggravation.

Have to cruise:

We loved the Triumph to Canada and in October will be on the Legend for a 2 day to nowhere. How was the speciality restaurant.

Jeanne.......The specialty restaurant was exceptional. Service was great and, of course, the food was excellent. I think we paid $25.00pp and it was well worth much more. There was a piano player and a dance floor. If I remember correctly, there were two levels. Make a reservation as soon as you board and I promise you will love it!

Will do! Did you have Stone Crabs? We will definitely make a reservation as soon as we embark. We booked a regular suite. Are the balconies on Spirit Class ships deeper than the narrow balconies on the Destiny class?

I'm glad somebody has the courage to tell it like it is. I was on the Mother's Day cruise also and found a large percentage of the passengers to be rude and obnoxious (aka your typical American tourist). Others may not like my choice of words, but they weren't there to witness the things that I (indeed, we) did. I congratulate you on your honesty. Both of my future bookings on the QE2 are European cruises which will depart from Southampton ; I've had enough of my "fellow" American passengers.

You don't think there are obnoxious European passengers? Think again. I'm a flight attendant for a major airline and fly to Europe fairly often. Believe me, there are more than enough loud and obnoxious European's to go around. The US certainly isn't alone in this regard.

I suspect it may well be the worst yet in terms of obnoxious passenger behavior. I bet we'll get at least one good newspaper story out of it and maybe even QM2's first 'man overboard.'

Thanks Purser for your kind words, although I agree with Ernie in that rude behavior is not mutually exclusive for Americans, the behavior was a turn off.

Am hoping that for Liner Guy, my TA and others sailing on the July 4th CTN, that The Maitre D'Hotel of BR is more prepared this time around. I am optimistic that things will be better!

My fellow traveler on the May cruise, Lorraine, saw the woman in the Planetarium who I referred to as the “Brick House.” Actually she was more Wagnerian, a Valkyerie (sp?). I used the term brick as she was solid like a brick and at least 6 feet tall – all muscle.

Lorraine was in a restaurant in Brooklyn and spied her. She stopped by her table and said: “I believe we ran into each other on the QM2 last month in the Planetarium.” At first the woman was mystified, then Lorraine mentioned how hectic it was to get a seat after waiting on line for so long, and the woman replied that “yes, weren’t people terribly rude?” Lorraine, always the lady, did not wish to embarrass her in front of her quests so she agreed.

When this incident had occurred originality, Lorraine had thought she had seen her before and as it turns out they both are regulars at this restaurant.

Jeanne.........On both the Triumph and Destiny, I can only speak about the suites. In size, they were exactly the same with the same layout. We had a lounge chair with an ottoman, two other chairs and a small table. Our friends had the cabin next to us and we asked the steward to unlock the balcony door between us. This made for a very large and long walking area. Didn't have the stone crabs, but I am sure they were just as delicious as our dinner.

As for the "American tourist" comment from another poster, we are on this board to inform and be informed. Every country in the world has rude, loud and obnoxious people. So glad all your future cruises will be from Europe so I know you will not be on any of mine.

Do you commute to Manhattan? I take the express bus in the AM and Ferry Home. Yesterday while on the SIRT in Stapleton, I saw from the window the Victory on its way to Canada I (it is that ship this year?).

We were three suites in a row on the Triumph in 2002 and also opened the partitions. While it was great length wise, on NCL Dawn (minisuite) and RCCL Serenade (D Cat) and QM2 (hull Balcony) the balcony was deeper which was nice. But any balcony will do. I will probably be cold the end of October but we can just go outside with our coats on.

You should have a better time on July 1st as I really do think the staff will have a plan to deal with potentially bad behavior.

I was told they were just shocked. There were many staffers who had been promoted to there positions for this ship and just had not experienced anything like it.

On this sailing we have an obstructed view balcony cabin. That was all that was left and it really doesn't matter since we are not going anywhere. I don't commute, however, my friend's husband saw the ship pulling in and he said it was the Victory.

What part of Staten Island do you live in?

The obstructed cabins are not (some totally obstructed) so you may have some view and these balconies are very nice. You will have the promenade below you which is also nice.

I live in Great Kills a few blocks up from the Marina. How about you.

Ken, it sounds like you've indeed met two different people.

The interesting part is this: unless you know a [B]third[/B] person who actually admits [I]absolutely positively [/I]to being Now Voyager, how can you be certain it wasn't one of the aforementioned pair?

Ken you have only stated that you met ARTTANNEN. You did not state you have met in the flesh Now Voyager. You have only stated that you email this person privately. If you have not met two different people how do you know that you are not being deceived.

I think Jeanne's innocent question to you should not have benn pulled and can't imagine who would report her for asking an obvious question.


I believe Jeanne S because this is a very personal attack. There is no history on Cruise Cruitic between them that would explain this, but the spelling, the attacks on being cheap, the room credit, the gender, this is all vintage Now Voyager.

We will be on the QM2 departing on June 19 from New York. We will have the early seating, as well, with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 granddaughters, ages 10 and 12, with us. Hope we don't encounter any of those boorish, ill-mannered people on our trip.
