does anyone know how many cartons we can bring back of cigs?

The two cartons per passenger are a U.S. Customs regulation. It’s not a cruise line thing. You are required to claim anything greater than two cartons per passenger to Customs.

Unless it has been recently changed, it is dependent on your exemption. Normally it is $400 ($600 in the Caribbean) and as such you may bring in not more than 200 cigarettes and 50 cigars..
