cayenneblue Posted May 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2007 It's one of those things on my "to-do" list, and I keep forgetting to look into it! Our cruise is June 10th............ Also - what do most of you get covered? Weather, illness, etc.??? Have you ever had to use it? THANKS!!;)
amybear912 Posted May 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 27, 2007 I have never needed it but won't travel without it... I am pretty sure you can still purchase... check out insuremytrip.com for some really reasonable policies that won't break the bank.
moesyk4 Posted May 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 27, 2007 You can still buy it, but depending on when you booked your cruise certain things won't apply anymore. For example, most pre existing conditions and some bankruptcies aren't covered unless insurance is purchased 14 days after the trip is scheduled. but in any case, you should still be able to get the coverage if you aren't worried about that. Oh yeah, and some of them have clauses about when a condition can be counted, such as if you bought insurance and then two days later you claimed something, they might question it. just read all the fine print! KCCruisin' Posted May 27, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 27, 2007 I purchased trip insurance about 14 days prior to my cruise, I got the coverage from AAA at 1/2 the cost of the cruiseline's insurance and with more coverages. I don't think I'll be using the cruiseline insurance in the future;)
mom2girls Posted May 27, 2007 #5 Share Posted May 27, 2007 I also always use insuremytrip.com. They have many companies with several different quotes and options. You can look to see which one is right for you. They are definitely cheaper than using the cruise line or travel companies insurance.
Smileeface Posted May 27, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 27, 2007 Hi KCCruisin...did you get your AAA travel insurance online or did you have to visit their office? If online, do you just hit a search for travel insurance? Thanks!
