Travelers Checks for S&S card

Have any of you used Travelers Checks to set up S&S account. I would assume that it would work the same as I've heard cash does...you put down a $400 dep. (2 people on a 7 day) then as needed/directed to I could go turn in more travelers checks to put toward account????

Is this correct?

Also, can I cash Travelers checks if I need more cash? Any fee?

Thank you,

Jennifer

You can use travelers checks but it seems much easier to just use a credit card and pay it when the bill comes. That way you do not need to bring that many checks--only enough for out of pocket expenses off the ship. And yes you can cash them on the ship with no fee.

I agree ..credit card would be easier but not an option at this point! Thanks for your input.....Jennifer

Yes we have, and it works just the same as cash. Add as you need to, and yes you can cash traveler's checks at the purser's desk if needed for no fee, and they do accept them in the casino so you can gamble, with no fee. If there's a balance left at the end of the cruise, they slide a check under your door in the amount that you didn't spend. That can be cashed at the purser's desk before you leave the ship.

I've never had a problem using traveler's checks on a cruise. I do usually give a cc to set-up the S&S account but then go to the purser's desk about day 5 and pay on the account with the traveler's checks. I pay some extra at that point and usually have a cc bill of less than $100 at cruise end. Some like to use the cc to get the points and then pay it when due. I prefer to not have a big bill to pay after PCD has set in.

I used them on my cruise in Sept. I was glad I didn't pay with cash as the person who took my money only put $30 in my account instead of $300. I had the stubs with the Travelers Cheque #'s to prove it was their mistake and they corrected it right away!
